About atlas vac machine

Why Atlas Vac Machine?

Packaging engineers are often the last team members invited to a product launch and yet the failure of medical device or pharmaceutical packaging can doom the project and profits.  Acquiring the best sealing equipment and tooling will reduce validation time and assure a reliable result....the first time.

Atlas Vac Machine has been delivering professional grade blister sealers or tray sealing equipment, and tooling, to the medical device industry for decades longer than any other manufacturer. The medical packaging equipment market is our specialty, not an add-on profit center to a wider commercial equipment line. Look at our product line. You will not see general or commercial blister sealers converted to medical or pharmaceutical use. You cannot properly validate a commercial tray or blister sealer.

Why is Atlas Vac Machine the best in its league?  Our people care about our customers because they are considered essential to our business...and they are.

Explore our new website and ask questions by emailing us at sales@atlasvac.com.

Atlas Vac is the industry standard recognized for technical excellence in the design and manufacture of medical device tray sealers used in cleanroom production. Their knowledgeable staff is comprised totally of engineers and technicians who know their product and your issues when it comes to tray sealing.

Many Atlas Vac models, still performing many decades after installation, have proved our innovative engineering reputation for simplicity, precision and no shortcuts. In addition to the available upgrades for your current unit, Atlas Vac can customize a new sealer to suit your needs.

Can your Medical Tray Sealer do this?

All Electric Tray Sealer

All Electric Medical Device Tray Sealer

Atlas Vac Machine has a new addition to its lineup of tray sealers.....an All Electric Sealer design.  No pneumatics! The cleanest of clean room tray sealers.

In seeking the ultimate in precise down-force control, our engineers have replaced the traditional pneumatic press with the next generation of press drive systems.  This provides the most accurate and repeatable sealing force of any medical tray sealer. Coupled with the heaviest heater & platen cross section in the industry, electric auto shuttles and our new OSHA compliant light curtain operator safety system, the rugged Atlas Vac tray sealer line has added a new all electric press that will out class any other medical device tray sealer you have ever used for cleanroom packaging.  (Click here)

UDI, Printer Output, & Audit Trail Data

Now UDI, Printer Output & Audit Trail Data from your Medical Device Tray Sealer!

Data input barcode scanning, printer output, labels and tray sealing audit trail (click here).

Track data for every seal stroke, confirm nest tool to recipe, track all PW protected recipe edits, track calibration PW access, track every PW sign-on, input your UDI data for each stroke and generate detailed reports or print labels. Track multiple tool nest cavities to each item and tray.  All with no troublesome PC! Medical Device Tray Sealers with intelligence. (click here)

Down Force Measurement Recording

Measure "down force in lb-F" not just air pressure...only with Atlas Vac

Standard on our All Electric Sealer or as an option on our traditional pneumatic sealers.  No other medical device tray sealer brand on the market can directly measure the force exerted by the sealing platen.  Once again, Atlas Vac was first. You validate time and temperature output at the platen but why are you validating supplied air pressure instead of the actual Down Force  of the sealing platen?   Our Force Sensing option is available on every pneumatic Atlas Vac sealer or step up to our new All Electric model.

Must Have Features for your Tray or Blister Sealer

  • Many Atlas Vac medical device tray sealers are still in service after 10 years? Are you getting this value from your sealer?

  • Is your sealer process controlled by a robust industrial PLC and large color touch screen with recipe memory or.... an accumulation of timers, microprocessors and mini-regulators? Do you really want to depend on a PC control system when a PLC can demonstrate significantly better stability?
  • Parameter alarms are a fundamental standard feature easily understood by the operator and stored in a audit trail memory for upload/download to your record system.

  • Atlas Vac tray sealers, with our patented Force Sensing technology option, can provide a digital readout of actual down-force of the sealing platen on every stroke. Are you getting these readings when you perform validations?

  • Do you have sufficient mass in your heater section to maintain even heating? Atlas Vac does! It's all about thermodynamics and the Laws of Physics, quite reliable.

  • Controls & wiring are always in a NEMA rated electrical enclosure with a rated tagout/lockout main power disconnect. Some brands skip this step. Some simply hang the electrical power components on the underside or inner guard surfaces of the sealer. Cheaper but a liability for the owner.

  • Do you know who signed in and changed a recipe parameter and when? Can you provide the audit trail for this change?

  • Do you have sealing history data including sealing parameter data, dates, times, operator sign-in, odometer readings, lot codes and UDI available for downloading?

  • Is your seal tool nest made from a single piece CNC machined block of aluminum or .....made of multiple pieces screwed together with the resulting stack up of tolerances?

  • Can your validated tool refuse to seal if the sealer does not match its RFID code? With our Atlas Vac Tool ID System option, product changeovers are simple and safe.

  • Do you have a redundant heater overtemp control (Factory Mutual approved for insurance) to prevent thermal runaway in case of complete system failure? This is standard on all Atlas Vac sealers since mid-2008.

  • Does your tray sealer have an E-Stop? Of course.  But does it have the required manual E-Stop reset button that must be pressed after pulling out the E-Stop? This is a requirement of CE and other codes. Your company may be a legally liable for injuries.  Atlas Vac sealers are compliant.

  • Does your sealing tool rest on a stationary, precision machined flat reference surface for reliable, perpendicular sealing as on Atlas Vac sealers with the platen pressing downward on the stationary tool nest? Or.... is your tray sealer moving the package upwards to collide against the heated platen at the most critical moment? Why isn't your "work piece" perfectly still when sealing?

  • Or is your tool base "adjustable" and therefore out of parallel? Why don't you have a flat sealing base aligned with your press as on Atlas Vac sealers?

  • Are your packages moving smoothly and quickly into sealing position without disturbing tray contents using electric drive shuttles?

  • Do you have calibration ports for time, temperature and pressure?  Can you annually adjust calibration factors on the HMI screen with a password if needed?

  • Can you prove who last logged in to update any calibration settings?

  • Does your tray sealer have a lockout for the main power switch? Some do, some don't? But, does your tray sealer also have an air supply safety lock out valve to isolate energy from the press?  Some do not. Your company may be legally liable for injuries.  Atlas Vac sealers have these lockout devices to meet code.

  • Do you need to keep disturbing the platen thermal path by changing costly relieved sealing platens for every sealing tool? Do you realize a relived platen exerts no more down-force on the sealing contact area than a smooth flat platen which has better thermal characteristics?  What happens then to your platen temperature calibration when you keep changing the platen?  No changeover worries with Atlas Vac's standard equipment flat platen including Dupont Teflon coating.

  • Atlas Vac Category 3 safety light curtain system reduce fatigue and increase operator output by permitting work to be done internal to the cycle rate. Is your light curtain system capable of meeting ESA, OSHA, CE and other requirements by demonstrating redundant control of all motion, energy and power? Or did someone just connect a light curtain to a former single channel switch circuit?

  • Does your sealer manufacturer have a website where you can download important calibration, maintenance and training technical documents from an on-line library? Atlas Vac does.

  • Can you watch your sealer in its assembly phase on the factory floor?  Atlas Vac provides a private web page for each sealer project with access for only the customer.

  • Can you obtain new parts from the factory that are backwards compatible to your older model sealer?

  • Is your tray sealer made by the engineers who sell it, service it and provide you with spare parts direct from the Atlas Vac facility.  Or is it made in an obscure factory in the far east to specifications "certified on paper", imported here and simply re-badged prior to sale by a shell company with little resemblance to its previous lineage?  All to increase their sales commissions?

Are we making you think about the critical issues affecting medical device packaging equipment?  Good! Bookmark our site and return when you wish to review your next sealing equipment decision!
